Book Review: Streams of Living Water

Streams of Living Water is a unique look into the spiritual history and traditions of the Christian faith. In the book, Richard J. Foster, author of Celebration of Discipline, examines six historical Christian movements, their characteristics, as well as their relevance to our own pursuit of Christ in the Twenty-First Century.

In each chapter, Foster summarizes a different movement, or stream as he calls them, of the Church. He uses the life of three individuals throughout history who exemplify the chapter's stream.

I found this book to be a breath of fresh air. It has greatly influenced the way I think about discipleship, my church traditions, and the church traditions of others. Foster is a master at getting to the heart of Christianity, and strives to preserve the unity of the Church rather than divide it over its cultural differences.
