Friday Prayer Blogging

Welcome back to Friday's Prayer Blog, I've always loved Proverbs and a verse jumped out at me today. It is Proverbs 19:6 - "Many curry favor with a ruler, and everyone is the friend of a man who gives gifts."

I know that coming down the legislation pipe is the right-wing regressives pushing for their judicial nominees to be approved and the Democrats not wanting to give in. Also left wingers want to stop the budget due to drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and the Republicans are not wanting to give in. Those are just two examples of the many favors and gifts that those in power in Washington are dispensing in the next few weeks.

Today let us pray like Solomon did in 2 Chronicles 1:9-11
"Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?"

God said to Solomon, "Since this is your heart's desire and you have not asked for wealth, riches or honor, nor for the death of your enemies, and since you have not asked for a long life but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people over whom I have made you king,

Let us pray for those in leadership positions to take the long range positions and not curry favors or seek short term gains. Let us pray for the leadership of the House (Pelosi and Hastert) and Senate (Reid and Frist). Let us pray again for President Bush and Vice-President Cheney that they have the best interests of America at heart in their decision making since they have no future political ambitions and can be guided by what is right and not by what is expedient.

Let's bow our head and pray...

As usual, any additional prayer requests can be left in the comments and we'll pray for them all week.
