Monday's Meditation

" If you could love me as a wife
and for my wedding gift, your life
should that be all i’ll ever need
or is there more i’m looking for

and should I read between the lines
and look for blessings in disguise
to make me handsome, rich, and wise
is that really what you want"
- Derek Webb, "Wedding Dress"

What are we hoping to get from God? When was the last time Christ was enough? No secret wisdom; no promise of health; no riches beyond our wildest dreams. Simply Christ and Christ alone.

(By the way, Donald Miller has a great talk that he eventually ties into Webb's "Wedding Dress" that is available for a free download on iTunes. It's called "The Gospel of Jesus, More Like Marriage, Less Like Formula." It's a great talk and I highly recommend you listen to it right now! Just search the title of the talk on iTunes.)
