I saw Beckham last night and he's impressive!

Last night I was able to get a ticket to the DC United vs. LA Galaxy game. It was fantastic game. We won 1-0 on a very exciting goal from Luciano Emilio who hit the ball from outside the 18-yard box.

But that's not why I'm writing this. 41,000 people didn't show up to watch DC play. They showed up to watch David Beckham...and he was fabulous, even for the lowly 20 minutes that he played.. It is unfortunate that he is playing on such a lousy team. Watch the first 70 seconds of this clip and you'll see Beckham's two most important touches.

First, the free kick is so nicely placed. If he was in Europe, the attacker would have put that in the net, not 5 yards over it.

Second, in the 87th minute, he's able to see his striker 50 yards ahead of him. He's able to see the 4 defenders between him and his striker. He's able to see (and this was truly where Beckham is so much better than the normal MLS midfielder) the space and puts a pass perfectly on the foot of his striker, who blows the first touch and isn't able to convert.

If you have a chance to see Beckham, you should go. He plays football like it is art, not just a game or work.
