The Status of "The Dream"

Tomorrow we observe the life and work of Martin Luther King Jr. It has been nearly forty years since his assassination and I'd like to spend some time today reflecting on Dr. King's plight to end racism with a few questions.
  1. What is racism?
  2. How has racism in the United States changed since Dr. King's time?
  3. To what extent does racism exist in the United States today?
  4. How haveThe Civil Rights Acts of 1964 and 1968 benefited minorities in the United States?
  5. Have the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 and 1968 hindered the equality of minorities in the United States?
  6. Is there any more legislation that needs to be made in order to further the equality of minorities?
  7. Which is the greater problem facing the United States, racism or poverty?
  8. What do you believe needs to happen in order to end racism as it exists in the United States today?
