What I want from my Republican Minority

Yesterday, I wrote about what I wanted from the Democratic Majority, but that is only 1/2 the issue. The Republicans are in the minority, but they still have a responsibility to me, the voter. As a DC resident, I'm not represented or, to be more specific, all Congressmen represent me; but like usual, when its everyone's job, nobody does it. That's why I've come up with an equally important list.

To truly represent me, the Republican minority should:
  • Regroup and figure out what you stand for.
  • Stop the Democrats from passing any of their lame populist economic ideas.
  • Work with the Democrats to solve America's problems. We'll vote for you again when you can prove you can govern.
  • Figure out how much longer you want to keep fighting the divisive culture war.
  • Acknowledge that power went to your head and use your position in the minority to shine light on any Democratic improprieties.
  • Use your position to counter-foil Democratic proposals in order to make the best policy decisions, not to just stop Democrats from doing anything.
  • Decide who your pay master is - social conservatives or big business.
  • Convince President Bush that it is time to get out of Iraq.

What do you want from the Republican Minority?
