Seems about right

New Jersey legislature passed a bill to legalized gay unions today. The governor is expected to sign it. The new law will give gay couples "the same rights and benefits as mixed-sex marriages. The measure does not allow for the unions to be called marriages, however."

That seems like a perfectly acceptable compromise on this divisive issues. Like Pepsi and Coke: same basic stuff on the inside, different names on the outside.
