Friday Prayer Blogging - Divided Government edition
After the electoral landslide by the Democratic Party this week, I can't think of anything else that will require more prayer than this divided government healing the wounds of partisan divide. The immense hatred for folks from the opposite side of the spectrum has been part of American politics for 10 or so years now and it has become institutionalized through MoveOn, Rush Limbaugh, littlegreenfootballs and DailyKos.Will you pray with me that the new leaders of America can reach out to one another and work to heal those divisions? Not that they should compromise their beliefs or should shy away from good debate, but that ad hominem attacks and vengeful rhetoric would be expunged from the discussion.
America and the world needs leaders with clear vision, compassion and incredible understanding. Only God can provide that. Would you pray for the President, the new leaders of the House and Senate? Maybe you could pray for your new House member or Senator. Or your re-elected members of Congress. Regardless, all our politicians need prayers.
So, Let us pray
