Friday Prayer Blogging - Epistle of Jude edition

This morning on the bus, I listened to the Letter of Jude (the Message translation) and was struck with how it coincided with my weekly Bible Study's theme this week of unity and focusing only on Jesus.

In Jude 1:17-23 it says this:
17But remember, dear friends, that the apostles of our Master, Jesus Christ, told us this would happen: 18"In the last days there will be people who don't take these things seriously anymore. They'll treat them like a joke, and make a religion of their own whims and lusts." 19These are the ones who split churches, thinking only of themselves. There's nothing to them, no sign of the Spirit! 20But you, dear friends, carefully build yourselves up in this most holy faith by praying in the Holy Spirit, 21staying right at the center of God's love, keeping your arms open and outstretched, ready for the mercy of our Master, Jesus Christ. This is the unending life, the real life!

22Go easy on those who hesitate in the faith. 23Go after those who take the wrong way. Be tender with sinners, but not soft on sin. The sin itself stinks to high heaven.

It is amazing that as fractured and divided as the modern Church is, that unbelievers are becoming believers. That fact alone testifies to the amazing power of the Holy Spirit and Jesus' message. This week let us concentrate our prayers on two topics: unity within the Body of Christ and staying at the center of God's love. Imagine the difference to our world if our prayers were answered.

Let us pray
