Letter From A Birmingham Jail

Although very long, MLK's Letter From A Birmingham Jail is an incredible read. For the first time, I realized that MLK was writing to other members of the Church who disagreed with him about both purpose and tactics of the civil rights movement.

It is both comforting and frustrating. It is comforting to know that the Church has always been split over co-opting society or pushing for social change. It is frustrating because if we've learned anything from MLK and his legacy, it is that social change based in justice will move society rather than just co-opt it.

"your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven."
