UK claims Africa debt success
G8 edges closer to African debt deal
£30bn debts write-off agreed
Pressure for Africa poverty deal


One of the goals of MakePovertyHistory has been achieved. The devil is in the details, of course, but true progress has been made.

My favorite quote is - "The chancellor said the deal would not have been possible without the pressure that has been put on finance ministers by churches, campaign groups and the public."

Now to get some additional aid and (to me the most important part) fairer trade rules so that African economies can become self-sufficient.
