Technology in my wife's purse

So Mrs. Expat Teacher has started running again and went for a jog last night. She called me to ask if she rubber banded her Visa card, driver's license and SmarTrip card, would she demagnetize them.

And as I thought about it, all 3 of her cards used different technology. The driver's license has a bar code that is read optically. The Visa card has a magnetic strip along the back. The SmarTrip works with RFID technology. Mrs. Expat Teacher's cards would be fine because there was only one magnetic strip between the three of them.

Probably not a revolutionary thought, but I was pretty impressed with the technology - all of which didn't exist when she was born - that Mrs. Expat Teacher keeps in her wallet every day and never thinks about.
