Besides riots, what is happening?

Is anyone else frustrated with the lack of information coming from Gleneagles today? I know that some people are rioting (freakin' idiots!) and that Bush fell of his bike and scrapped up his arm. (fodder for the Daily Show for weeks!)

Outside of Scotland, we've got some movement on the stickiest issue, trade. Africa needs G8 date to end farm subsidies. South Africa is leading the charge for a solid date for the complete phase-out of agricultural subsidies. Folks inside the administration are listening, USDA chief reiterates farm subsidy cuts, while it is only cotton subsidies at this point, it is movement in the right direction.

In case you don't think that trade (and aid and debt forgiveness matter) matter, why not see what it's like to live on $1 a day?
