Josh Marshall shares my worries about Obama

I suggest you read Josh Micah Marshall's piece today wondering if Obama has the ruthlessness to take the Democratic nomination. He comes to the same conclusion I have. Probably not. Obama has painted himself into a corner with his "new style" of politics. That means "Obama isn't so much running for the nomination in the sense of reaching out and taking it. He's trying to show us how marvelous he is (and this isn't snark, he's really pretty marvelous) so that Democratic voters will recognize it and give him the nomination." And that would be fabulous, but as Josh points out, "But that's not how it works in this country. I don't know if it really works otherwise anywhere else. But you have to really want it, come out and say it, take it."

Obama is a long way from being out of the race, but I'd bet money he ends up being The Biggest Disappointment story on the Democratic side (with Giuliani on the Republican side) when all this is said and done.
