Hug a teacher and overpriced Seattle

Two stories that slipped below the radar this week were:

Hug a teacher! 9 and 13 year olds are doing better at math and reading than ever before. Even the achievement gap between minorities and whites is closing! Remember this next time someone slags off public education.

And, when/if Mrs. Expat Teacher and I move back to America, it doesn't look like our old stomping ground is a viable financial option. Seattle retained its No. 1 ranking in the 2005 list of the Most Overpriced Places in the United States as measured by Forbes magazine.
